Threads of Change: Crafting Community & Civic Engagement
June 15, 2026
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for a craft session and brief talk on the history of craft, while learning more about The Matriots Education Fund!
Dive into the history of how traditionally female crafts have been utilized as forms of protest, resistance, and communication, then complete your own craft. After learning a few simple embroidery stitches, create your own Matriots sew-on patch to take home. This activity is easy and accessible for everyone and the skills you learn are transferable to a next embroidery project – no special skills required!
The event is open to all ages, high school +, and all skill levels. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $35 each and include a $15 tax-deductible donation to The Matriots Education Fund.
This event is hosted in partnership by Sew To Speak and The Matriots Education Fund (MEF). MEF is an Ohio-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with a mission to demystify the political arena, its systems, processes, and roles, so that women can understand, and leverage, the power of their participation. The MEF advances representative leadership in Ohio with programs designed to encourage women to seek opportunities where they can engage, exercise agency, and influence policy.
