To the women who lead…
Dear Friend,
The Matriots Education Fund (MEF) needs your support to reach, educate, and encourage more women across the State of Ohio in 2025.
Developed to foster an ecosystem of support for Ohio’s women, the MEF, a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit, seeks to demystify the political process through educational events and the resources necessary to activate women in Ohio politics. Our research shows that when Ohio women run for office, they win. However, women are only running in 30% of the races and less frequently for many offices like township trustee, sheriff, county commissioner, statewide executive office, and federal seats.
Ohio currently ranks 41st out of 50 states for women’s political participation, and despite comprising 51% of the state’s population, only about 29% of public offices in Ohio are held by women.
As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on the incredible work the MEF has accomplished, despite the challenge of being in a year saturated by political fundraising and partisan politics. This year, we engaged thousands of women across the State of Ohio, providing information and resources encouraging them to add their important voice to political discussions. The women we’ve engaged represent a diverse cross-section of gender, race, physical ability, education, familial responsibilities, and political party. The MEF stands behind these women, because we know that our state democracy is stronger when women lead.
As we look toward 2025, the work of the MEF is needed now more than ever. We must ensure that women see themselves in public office, know what they can run for, and are connected to critical resources they need to engage in Ohio politics. For this to happen, we need your help.
Please consider making a year-end gift in support of the work of the MEF. Together we can make a difference and help more women run for elected office—and win!
Every onward,
Emily Quick Schriver, CEO
